Practice Policies

Our pediatricians require a copy of the medical record from the previous PCP prior to be seen. We will obtain a medical record release form signed by the parent and will fax it up to 3 times. If no records are obtained 48 hours prior to the scheduled appointment, it will be cancelled and/or moved to a different date. Ultimately, it is your responsibility the medical record is obtained 48 hours prior to the appointment date.

Newborn patients are encouraged to send the newborn discharge summary 24 hour prior to the scheduled appointment. If has Medicaid insurance, PCP should be assigned prior to the schedule appointment or else will have to pay our self-pay fee of $75.

Torneria Pediatrics strongly enforces our 15 Minute Rule. It is your responsibility to always arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment.  If you arrive 15 minutes or more late for your appointment, it will be canceled or rescheduled. The reason for this rule is to keep as close to the schedule as possible. Please be courteous to those who are scheduled after your visit by arriving on time. 

Cancellations need to be made as soon as possible. If the cancellation is not done at least 24 hours in advance, it will be considered a no-show.

If you make an appointment for your child and do not show up, you will be billed a $25 fee; this fee is charge to the parent, not the insurance, and must be paid prior to the next visit.

After 3 no-shows in a period of 12 months, your child or children will be discharge from our care/office. Once discharge from our office, a 30-day grace period will be given in which your child will be seen in the event of an illness.

Currently, we are accepting patients that do not have insurance. Our self-pay prices are the following:
• For WCC visits, a cost of $75 will be charge for the visit + 10$ for each vaccine needed.

• For urgent or office visits, the cost will range from $50-$75, depending on the acuity of the visit + the cost of any in-house labs done if needed:

  •       • Monospot test- $25
  •       • Hemoglobin $15

We strongly believe in the safety and effectiveness of vaccines. As medical professionals, we know how essential vaccines are in preventing disease, saving lives, and preventing serious, lifelong complications from infection.

It is our duty and responsibility as pediatricians, to promote and protect patient health, which is why we have adopted the vaccination schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

Our Vaccine Policy:

1. All patients should receive all recommended vaccines according to the AAP/CDC vaccine schedule unless there is a medical contraindication.
2. We will not accept new patients whose parents choose not to vaccinate their children.
3. Parents of newborns will be given until the 4-month well child visit to initiate vaccines. If vaccines are not initiated at that time, patients will be required to find another pediatric health care provider. These patients can continue to be seen in our office for 30 days after being informed of the policy verbally and in writing.
4. We do not recommend alternative vaccine schedules. If parents plan for their children to receive all vaccines but on an alternative schedule, we will do our best to work with you, with the goal being that children are fully vaccinated as soon as possible.

Children must receive their primary series of vaccines by age 2 and all vaccines required for school by age 5. If vaccines are not done by those ages, patients will be required to find another pediatric health care provider.
